MERMAIDS

What do you think of the mythical mermaid? I always think of Ariel from the movie The Little Mermaid. She was such a little darling! My daughter used to watch it all the time as a child. And we watched it with her!
(Male mermaids were called mermen.)
As for where this mythical figure came from it was told that drunken sailors saw manatees among the rocks and claimed they were beautiful women with fin tails!
HA! So THAT'S how it all started!Above is the humble manatee. Many live off the coast of Florida, USA and are human-friendly.
(How sailors thought they were beautiful women with tails is beyond me!)
